Hua'an jade comes from Hua'an, Nanjing, Zhangping and other places in Jiulong River, Fujian Province. It was formerly known as Tea Roasted Stone, Jiulong Jade, Five Colored Jade, and Jiulong Bi. Hua'an jade is the most important rare stone variety in Fujian Province and the "city stone" of Zhangzhou City. It enjoys a high reputation domestically and will enter the world's "stone forest", becoming a treasure in stone toys.
Hua'an jade belongs to the category of hard jade and is called "diopside skarn". It has been tested by professional institutions and contains no harmful radioactive elements to the human body. Its stone texture is delicate, the jade texture is warm and elegant, and it is mottled. At the same time, the stone is hard, with a hardness of 7-7.5, and it is colorful, including purple red, light red, dark green, gray white, black and other colors. But mainly in the four colors of red, green, white, and black. Various colors come in different shades and are unevenly distributed, often in the form of stripes, forming colorful patterns. Some are like tiger skin patterns, some are like flowing water, and some are like landscape paintings with brushstrokes and ink. Hua'an jade from different origins has different colors and patterns.
Hua'an jade has the characteristics of high density, low water absorption, and wear resistance, as well as unique shapes and unpredictable texture and color changes. This stone is mostly a two-color stone and a multi-color combination stone. The stone is delicate like jade, smooth and oily, with clear textures and diverse shapes, including image stones, landscape stones, color stones, pattern stones, and abstract stones. It is a perfect combination of softness, beauty, and grandeur.
During the Tang and Song dynasties, Hua'an jade was hailed as a precious treasure and presented to the court. It is still preserved in the Palace Museum in Beijing. It was officially developed in the 1980s and 1990s and gradually recognized and promoted. On January 3, 2000, it was jointly studied and named as "Hua'an Jade" by the Chinese Gem and Jade Association, the Gem and Jade Professional Committee of the Chinese Geological Society and so on. Together with Xiuyan Jade, Hotan Jade Jade and Dushan Jade, it was called the four famous jades in China by the Chinese gem and jade circle.
